Amazing Artificial Grass Architecture

Synthetic grass is used in architecture to blur the lines between buildings and nature.  Here are 5 amazing projects from around the world that make interesting use of fake grass.

Family Home in Frohnleiten, Austria

This project was inspired by the work of graphic artist M. C. Escher  – see the prints ‘Still life and Street’ and ‘Ascending and Descending’ to appreciate how the architect has toyed with perception and perspective in this project.  The grass covered walls blend into the landscape; a playful illusion that’s aesthetically pleasing too.

Hill House, Melbourne

This unique property is built into an artificial hill; the hidden lower level has a cantilevered structure on top.  Rather than building steps or seating into the sunny façade, the designers wanted to make the most the space – so decided on a sloped artificial grass surface that can be used to lounge.
